I am a long-time listener to ABC FM in Australia. However, lately I have been fed up with their constant ads, as well as chatter and too much vocal music for my taste.
A good friend recently told me about
ABC classic 2, which broadcasts classical music on the internet 24 hours per day with no talking.
There is no need to log in. You can listen on your phone or other device. I use my laptop, which has good sound.
It is a little rough around the edges, in that the name of the piece being played is shown only about half the time, and you have to put your mouse on it to get the full name, as it truncates on the screen.
The music is not exclusively classical, but almost always pleasant. Screeching sopranos are rarely featured. So if you just want to listen to classical music without interruption this is the place to go. A slight downside is that they never play a complete symphony or concerto, only single movements. You can, of course, access the broadcast anywhere in the world, for free. I think that is wonderful.
I believe it is also available on digital radio, though I don't know how to find it there.
Another excellent internet classical broadcaster is
Venice radio. It seems to feature no singing and the music is a little more serious than ABC 2, but definitely enjoyable. I think I prefer it. A minor drawback is that it does not tell you what is playing.
